Things To Do
The Western Cape is the heart of South Africa. It offers the perfect stopovers between the Mother City, Cape Town, and Port Elizabeth. Unrivalled coastlines, majestic mountains and semi-desert areas offer a unique insight to this spectacular province and access to numerous fantastic activities, sights and things to do. The Western Cape is known for its diversity, not only in the awesome scenery but also for its people- from the unique Cape Coloured community, to Indian, Afrikaans, English, Namaqua and the cultural Xhosa villages.
There are a wide variety of golf courses in and around the Western Cape. Some of the best golfing on the continent - and Ambience Inn Afrika Lodges will be happy to make bookings on your behalf -we might even be able to get you a better playing tariff! George and Knysna is a prime stopover for golfers. Businessmen can fly down to George late on a Friday afternoon to indulge themselves in a great game of golf at courses like Simola, Pezula, Fancourt, Goosevalley and Pinnacle Point.
In and around the Western Cape are many spectacular drives, the Swartberg Pass, the Du Toits Kloof pass, Meiringspoort, Tradouw Pass and the Seweweekspoort Pass offering access to the dry interior of the Little Karoo. Further interesting National roads like the Route 62 (the alternative to the N2 as a route to Cape Town) offer great little undiscovered secrets such as the one and only, Ronnies Sex Shop. The drive from the famous Karoo town of Oudtshoorn leads you over the great Outeniqua Pass to the humble City of George.
South Africa offers so much diversity for the lover of the great outdoors: nature walks, horse rides, mountain biking, shark cage diving, lush green natural forests, sunswept beaches, bungee jumps, helicopter rides over Table Mountain, animal sanctuaries, game farms, bird sanctuaries, steam trains, whale-sightings and some of the best scenery in the world!
